Day 1 is deliberately soft: arrive, settle, one easy lookout or short signed stop. Night is Natural Bridge with red path light only, a sober driver and a hard exit time. Day 2 is one second outing — a plateau circuit OR Mount Cougal half-day — not both hard stacks.
Book accommodation near the section that matters most. Plateau cabins favour waterfall mornings; valley/hinterland bases favour glow-worm nights. Do not assume “Springbrook” on a booking map is five minutes from Natural Bridge car park.

Glow worms primary → prioritise stay with a sane drive to Natural Bridge (Numinbah Valley). Plateau waterfalls primary → cabin/base closer to Springbrook plateau roads. Day 1 afternoon
Arrive, settle, easy lookout
Check in, unpack red headlamp and layers. Do one easy lookout or short formed stop only — Best of All style short walk if on plateau, or a calm valley reset if near Natural Bridge. Save hard stairs for Day 2 morning when fresh. Eat an early dinner; night walking is not the time to discover you are hangry.
Day 1 night
Natural Bridge glow worms

Day 2 morning
One second outing only
Pick A) one plateau Grade 3 circuit (Twin Falls or Purling Brook) OR B) Mount Cougal half-day style outing — not both. Check alerts over breakfast. If the night emptied the tank, a short lookout still counts as a successful Day 2.
Day 2 midday+
Exit toward the coast with margin
Checkout, fuel if needed, talk honestly about what worked. Do not invent a third hard walk on the way home. If rain washed out Day 2, you still won: night colony + rest still counts as a good Springbrook trip.
