Itineraries
Guide updated · verify Queensland Parks the morning you go
These plans are built for real Gold Coast and Brisbane days — winding climbs, two different valley drives, wet rock and a reverse clock home — not a fantasy “do every waterfall then glow worms before lunch” checklist. Pick the plan that matches your group, then open it for a full timeline, packing notes and what to skip.
Plateau waterfalls and Natural Bridge are different drives. Every itinerary defers to Queensland Parks for alerts and track status.
Which plan fits you?
- Half-day: Natural Bridge — first visit, mixed ages, or “we just need the arch and home.”
- Full day: Plateau waterfalls — early leave; one Grade 3 circuit plus at most one short lookout.
- Overnight: Night glow — hinterland base so glow worms are not a midnight motorway run.
If two plans both sound good, pick the shorter one. You can always do less on the ground; you cannot invent time on a wet descent.

3–5 hours door-to-door from the Gold Coast (+ buffer for traffic)
Half-day: Natural Bridge
Best for: First visit, mixed ages, limited time, day arch circuit or glow-worm scout
Drive to Numinbah Valley Natural Bridge — not the plateau waterfall car parks. Short formed arch circuit by day; optional night return only with red-light ethics, a sober driver and a reverse clock home.

8–10 hours · plateau focus (leave the coast early)
Full day: Plateau waterfalls
Best for: Fit walkers who want stairs, spray and one serious Grade 3 circuit — not three
Early Springbrook plateau start, one Grade 3 circuit (Twin Falls or Purling Brook as Plan A), picnic recovery, optional short lookout only if legs remain. Wet-weather swap is lookouts and signed short stops — not heroics on greasy stairs.

2 days · softer logistics (base near the section you care about)
Overnight: Night glow
Best for: Glow worms without a midnight motorway; couples and families who hate rushed dual-drive days
Hinterland or Numinbah base, easy afternoon lookout, Natural Bridge after dark with red-light ethics, second section next morning. Book the stay near the night visit you care about most — plateau cabins vs valley for glow worms are different drives.
